Formerly the bulk SMS provider were obligated to register with TRAI. As we are clued up with the revised rules, whoever wants to SMS their customer needs to be DLT registered. It is a policy where, telemarketers have to be lodged and set down. DLT is an electronic system, in which transactions and its details are recorded at the same time at multiple places.
As we already know, the three different phases of DLT.
The 1st phase which came into operation on 1st June 2020, includes Entity Registration and Header Registration. Registering as an Entity or Telemarketer on DLT platform and solicit to approve header’s Id (Sender Id). Then loomed the 2nd phase in which business header and entity mapping is done. Business and Organizations that sends commercial messages are to be mapped with headers I’d to principal entity. After which the third phase pitched up, which includes Scrubbing which came in effect from 7th January 2021. It includes Template approvals. Without having approval for these templates, no user can send the messages.
DLT contains two templates, one is Content Template which includes messages that will be sent to the customers for seeking permission to send them marketing, offers, deals related messages. The second one is Consent Template, which includes the actual text message that will be sent to the direct customers. Both the messages, being it direct or permission seeking message have to be submitted on the DLT platform.
